Jonas Grätzer

Jazz Drummer & Educator based in Hamburg

Jonas Grätzer is an accomplished jazz drummer known for his skill and innovative exploration of sonic and sound while focusing  on sonic depth, improvisation, and energetic interaction. His music blends modern European jazz with influences from rock, classical, and free improvisation.

He studied at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and HfMT Hamburg, receiving mentorship from renowned artists such as Thomas Alkier, Sperie Karas, Bodek Janke, James Maddren, Ralph Salmins, Trevor Tomkins, Holger Nell, and Billy Hart.

He has performed with musicians and ensembles like Ryan Carniaux, Hugo Read, Thomas Hufschmidt, the Blue Shroud Orchestra, NDR Bigband, Fritz Hauser, and Mel Maroon.

With his band, he explores open musical forms and emotional intensity. 

Alongside his artistic work, he is deeply committed to music education.
